Travel plan

Flight from Europe to Hanoi.

After your arrival our agent will pick you up at the airport and take you to the hotel in the old part of the city. Hanoi is a soulful city full of the charm and unique atmosphere of ancient pagodas neighbouring the lakes, colonial mansions and tropical boulevards. Join senior citizens doing tai chi at the side of the mystic Hoan Kiem Lake and pay tribute to uncle Ho Chi Minh in his mausoleum. In the evening check out the Water Puppet Theatre show, which takes place just a stone’s throw from your hotel.

Ha Long Bay

After a hearty Vietnamese breakfast, you transfer to Ha Long Bay, where your boat is waiting. Jump aboard and photograph all the Bay’s treasures on the cruise, for example, the dramatic local calcite formations that look like they are straight out of a parallel universe and which are included on the UNESCO natural heritage list. In the evening after dinner aboard, there will be time for fishing or just contemplating the picturesque bay in the moonlight.

The next day you visit Turtle Island and a small bamboo boat will take you to the mysterious Hidden Lagoon. Late in the afternoon, you return to Hanoi for a farewell dinner after which you catch the night train to the true pearl of Vietnam – Hoi An.

Hoi An

Art galleries? Markets where flocks of ducks are among the most usual things on sale? Fancy restaurants with $5 menus and fantastic cocktails? Or, at the end of the day, splashing around in the hotel pool in the middle of a tropical garden? All these – and a lot more! – are in Hoi An.

The town is on the UNESCO cultural heritage list and, in our opinion, it looks and feels like the quintessence of Vietnam. Apart from the intimate, small-town atmosphere, you will experience medieval streets, charming colonial-style mansions as well as the vibrant port and jetty teeming with excellent bars and restaurants. For history lovers, we recommend a 1-day excursion to My Son where the ruins of the most important municipality of the ancient Champa Kingdom are located. Even more, just 15 minutes by bike from your hotel stretch kilometres of white beaches where you can enjoy the cooling water, warm sand and the sun.

Ho Chi Minh City

Flight to Ho Chi Minh City (former Saigon) which is definitely one of the most exciting cities in South-East Asia. If you fancy a dose of anti-American propaganda, don't miss out on the War Remnants Museum. Again, those fond of history will also find a lot of attractions, such as the underground tunnels of Cu Chi, used the Viet Cong soldiers who had their shelters, hospitals and even assembly halls here. Saigon also offers a host of temples, pagodas and parks. You'll certainly never get bored here!

Phu Quoc Island

Time for the tropical island of Phu Quoc. Just a 30-minute flight will transport you light years from the hustle and bustle of Saigon – to an idyllic island fringed by 40 kilometres of white beaches and a thick forest of palm trees. Coconuts, alabaster beach, the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand, cosy bungalows directly on the beach… who could ask for more?

Back to Europe

Flight back home via Ho Chi Minh City.

Scrumptious. Sinful. Delectable. Cooking is virtually an art form in Vietnam. The cuisine is based on beef, seafood, a wide range of fresh vegetables and aromatic herbs and spices. According to the ancient Vietnamese philosophy of eating, a good meal should strike the perfect balance between sweet and sour, crispy and soft, fried and steamed… After experiencing it on holiday, you'll most likely smile indulgently when you next encounter the European version of “Vietnamese cuisine”.
