You'll spend a couple of days in a place virtually untouched by human activity or commercialism. It's the perfect place to take sunrise or sunset strolls, lounging underneath the palm trees or splashing around in natural rock pools. Discover a new meaning to the word “relaxation”, swinging in a hammock with your favourite book, munching fresh prawns and washing them down with excellent arrack liquor. Welcome to your own private paradise!
After 4 intense days of sightseeing and walking you go to your next beach paradise, this time Mirissa, the perfect destination to relax. Once you arrive, you'll not only be delighted by the perfect swimming conditions, but also amazed by the beaches. They are quite simply dreams of tropical heaven come true! Lay down on the sand, relax and forget about your cares - they have no place here. In the evening see the stunning sunsets or sample shark or barracuda dishes, followed by some delicious roti served in one of the beach restaurants.
If you are eager to discover some of Sri Lanka’s history, Galle is the place to visit. The small town is renowned mostly for its 300-year old fort facing the ocean. Originally built by the Portuguese, it's now on the UNESCO cultural heritage list and also the biggest European-built fortress in southern Asia. Lose yourself among the narrow streets and colonial Dutch mansions or just enjoy a cup of coffee in one of the multiple cafés.
Around midday you transfer to Colombo where you catch your flight back to Europe.
The above travel plan is just an example of what you might expect when travelling with Planet Escape. We tailor each travel plan to the individual client’s needs and we carefully select the right beach, accommodation, activities and the length of stay to suit your individual requirements.
The resort is comprised of stylish wooden huts situated among a palm tree garden. Each hut has a terrace viewing the Indian Ocean and two floors the upper one with a bedroom and the downstairs with a huge bathroom. The resort has a scooter, bike and kayak rental so that you can explore the surrounding area by means of the transport of your choice.
Sri Lanka’s cuisine has been strongly influenced by that of India over the years, but there is one noticeable difference - the food on the island you are going to is a good deal spicier! Watch out for the menus with the word sambol - this is how the hottest dishes are marked. The most commonly consumed grain is rice and locals usually eat with their hands for the time you are here, forget about cutlery and enjoy simple meals! Sri Lanka is of course renowned for its curries and the seaside villages offer a wide choice of delicious fresh fish, prawns and lobsters. The local cuisine also has some traditional sweets such as halape, a delight made from coconut and honey or thalaguli sesame balls. There is a huge variety of fruits growing everywhere, from mangos, pineapples, papayas to rambutans.
