Trace the Fellowship of the Ring

New Zealand
From 2600 eur

Glaciers and geysers, mountains and lowlands, fjords and sandy beaches -– all these geographic miracles of nature come together in one place: New Zealand.

New Zealand is made up of two exceptional islands. Their natural beauty is enhanced by the fact that so far they have managed to avoid becoming a hub of mass-tourism. The landscapes still exist in their pure form: never-ending beaches, fjords replete with dolphins and seals, geysers shooting turquoise water high into the air, large swaths of green grass, glaciers and monumentally-sized mountains. Welcome to New Zealand, where the sheep outnumber man by 4 to 1.

Flight from Europe and transfer at one of the Asian airports. You are heading as far East from Europe as it is possible to go. Don’t forget to move your watch 12 hours forward!

Welcome to New Zealand

Welcome to New Zealand, where a private car awaits you.

Exploring the Southern Island

Mapa Zabytki Statek Trekking

Right after breakfast you begin your journey to uncover secrets such as hidden lakes, crystal clear rivers and virgin rainforests. During the first few days, you cross the Cantbury lowlands, seeing the post-glacial Tekapo lake and snow-capped pointed peaks and fjords of the Tasman sea. Then, cruising by boat down the fjord of Milford Sound, passing hidden waterfalls gushing from the forests, you get a unique chance to take a closer look at the sunbathing seals and sociable dolphins. On the evening of the last day, you arrive in Queenstown….

Relaxation and water sports in Queenstown

Relaxing in Queenstown can mean a lot more than just chilling with a glass of good New Zealand wine! We particularly recommend an après-ski style party after a whole day spent rafting or bungee jumping.

Further miracles of the Southern Island

Mapa Zabytki

You spend the next few days travelling one of the most beautiful routes in the world. On the way to the Fox glacier you traverse varying landscapes from mountains bursting with greenery to the surreal landscapes on the coast. You also see the calcareous caves of the Paparoa National Park and go kayaking in the turquoise waters of the Tasman Bay. You are guaranteed to fall in love with New Zealand.

Cruising from South to North

Leżak Impreza

Today you cross the Cook strait by ferry. Make yourself comfy on the upper deck, order a fresh mojito, sit back and enjoy the view.

Fabulous North

Mapa Zabytki Trekking

You spend your time visiting the vineyards of Hawke’s Bay, seeing Taupo lake (known as “the pearl in the crown”!) located in the heart of a pine forest. Then you move on to see the hot geysers of Rotorua and afterward a show of traditional Maori dancing. After a couple of days of intense sightseeing and trekking, we recommend relaxing in the hot thermal springs, followed by cooling down in the sea water…. Next comes Auckland.

Welcome to Auckland

We're certain that you'll find Auckland an amazing place to stay! If you still have energy, we suggest climbing one of the 60 dormant volcanoes to see the view of the city from the summit. Then just sit back and enjoy a traditional steak of the finest New Zealand beef.

The above travel plan is just an example of what you might expect when travelling with Planet Escape. We tailor each travel plan to the individual client’s needs and we carefully select the right beach, accommodation, activities and the length of stay to suit your individual requirements.

All of the venues on offer have been checked out by us personally. They are clean and friendly and, last but certainly not least, situated in incredibly beautiful locations. As opposed to huge impersonal hotels, the accommodation we arrange is stylish and intimate and where you'll feel at home. If you wish to be woken up by birdsong and have a stunning view just outside your window, this is the place for you!

New Zealand cuisine is based mainly on that of American and British – fish&chips, steaks and hamburgers are available pretty much on every street corner. A popular traditional dish is called paje, which are a kind of dumplings stuffed with meat. But the most famous Maori dish is kai –a mix of various kinds of meat traditionally roasted in ground stoves and then served in baskets made out of grass and leaves. And don't forget the world-renowned New Zealand wines! The sophisticated flavour of Merlot or Riesling can satisfy even the most picky of connoisseurs.
